Mistra Urban Futures was formed in 2010 as a 10-years programme and centre for knowledge and research on sustainable urban development, funded by Mistra, Sida and a Gothenburg Consortium. The Centre brought together academics, professionals and other stakeholders to co-produce new knowledge and contributions towards urban transitions to more sustainable paths for development.

This conference will provide students, researchers, and the general public with the opportunity to participate in cross-disciplinary discussions and activities addressing sustainability research in relation to pressing urban and global issues, as well as the role that art plays in shaping more socially and environmentally just urban futures.

It’s a community of passionate CityChangers from all over the world. Active, passionate and visionary decision-makers – we call them CityChangers – are the ones who drive change and create sustainable urban spaces. This new AHURI hybrid one-day conference, Uncharted urban futures: Australian cities post pandemic, will examine Australia’s population dynamics as a result of the COVID-19 crisis; the delivery of critical social infrastructure to support our changing cities and the particular urban transport challenges emerging from the pandemic. Mistra Urban Futures arranges Annual Conferences about Realising Just Cities, which are hosted at our research platforms. The 2018 conference took place in Cape Town, South Africa and focused on comparative co-production and how we jointly can address global urban challenges.
